A small plane landed in a lake behind a northeast Miami-Dade home Friday afternoon after it experienced power failure, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
The Piper PA-25 Pawnee plane could be seen partially sticking out of the water of the lake at 199 Northeast 3rd Ave.
The pilot was uninjured, officials said.
Pilot Rob Ramirez said he had just left his home base at North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines when he realized the plane was having problems. He said he didn't panic, but went over emergency procedures and looked for a place to land.
That place was a lake at the still-developing Aventura Isles subdivision.
The water was not quite the cushion he was expecting.
"It was harder than I thought. Yeah, you know, you hear water's soft. It's not,” Ramirez said, laughing.

What Ramirez did find soft and soothing was the welcome he received from neighbors on the ground.
"They gave me water, they gave me towels and, you know, real nice,” he said. “Came out, asked me if I needed assistance or anything. So yeah."
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was on the ground too – making sure Ramirez was really as fine as he says he felt.
The plane was marked with a phone number from a company, Aerial Banners, that is based at North Perry.
NBC 6 reached out to Aerial Banners for comment, but the company did not provide one Friday.
The aircraft was ultimately hauled out of the water.
