Small Plane Crashes Near Vinoy Hotel in St. Petersburg

Police say a small plane carrying three men and a 17-year-old from Ireland crashed in a park in St. Petersburg.
 
Police say two people were taken to the hospital following the Monday morning crash.
 
The pilot, 58-year-old Grant Jordon, is in serious but stable condition at an area hospital. A 52-year-old passenger, Aloysius Ryan, is also recovering in serious condition.
 
Police said the plane was headed to St. Petersburg from Tallahassee. The pilot told police the plane suffered engine failure as he began his approach to the airport and he was forced to attempt a landing in the park, located across the street from the Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort and Golf Club.
 
A 48-year-old named Eamonn Harnell and a 17-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.
