Smash and Grab at Design District Boutique

Thieves drive van through front door of Miami clothing store

Police are investigating after a group of thieves drove a van through the front door on a Design District boutique and made off with thousands in clothing and other merchandise early Monday.

The smash and grab happened at Tanya-Marie at 4600 Northeast 2nd Avenue.

Building owner George William said police told him the thieves crashed a stolen white van into the store's entrance then took off in another vehicle.

The burglars made off with several pieces of high-end clothing and other items, William said.

William said the store had only been open about two months, and that the crash caused extensive damage to the store front.

Police are still investigating the incident and haven't said how many suspects they're looking for.
