Soccer Fans, Businesses Excited For ‘El Clasico Miami' This Weekend

One of the biggest showdowns in soccer comes to Miami this weekend. El Clasico Miami will take over the Hard Rock stadium Saturday, but the hype was already underway.

Soccer fans are thrilled, but businesses are much more excited for the rush of tourists heading to town. Miami tourism chief Bill Talbert promises an economic impact in the tens of millions of dollars.

El Clasico's website touts the rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona, with some considering it the most intense in all of sports. The match-up will fill South Florida hotels and restaurants during what's typically the slow summer tourism season.

Layne Kamm flew from Iowa to Tampa and drove to Miami Monday morning just to watch famous French team Paris Saint Germain practice at Barry university.

"It is worth it," Kamm said.

Two games will be played this week and it's important to note that both are exhibitions. Wednesday night a team from France plays an Italian team. Saturday night the two teams from Spain go head to head: Real Madrid vs. Barcelona.
