A white-bearded, 56-year-old Florida software developer has won the Ernest "Papa" Hemingway look-alike contest on his seventh attempt.

Stephen Terry of Palm Harbor bested 125 other entrants to win the title Saturday night at Sloppy Joe's Bar, a frequent hangout of Ernest Hemingway when he lived in Key West in the 1930s.

The contest was a highlight of the annual Hemingway Days celebration that ends Sunday and honors the author's literary legacy and vigorous lifestyle.

After two preliminary rounds, a judging panel of former winners chose Terry on the eve of the 114th anniversary of Hemingway's birth.

Terry said he shares the author's fondness for fishing and adventure, and enjoys journal writing.

During his Key West years, Hemingway penned literary classics including "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "To Have and Have Not."
