Dozens of flights into and out of South Florida were canceled or delayed Monday as the Northeast was hit by yet another winter storm.
As of 11:30 a.m., there were 46 cancellations at Miami International Airport, including 30 arrivals and 16 departures. The cities affected include Baltimore, New York (both airports), Philadelphia, Newark, Washington, D.C. (both airports), Raleigh/Durham, Pittsburgh, and Nashville.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport was experiencing 34 delays and 36 cancellations Monday morning, officials said.
More than 2,000 flights into and out of the U.S. were canceled by 5 a.m. ET on Monday, according to FlightAware.com. States of emergency were declared in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Delaware. Eastern Oklahoma, northern Arkansas and western Kentucky, will get the worst of the ice.
The prospect of 6 to 10 inches of snow has led to the closure of federal offices in Washington, D.C., NBC Washington reported.
Travelers were advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
