With Thanksgiving just a week away and the December holiday season just around the corner, South Florida’s two biggest airports are receiving high praise when it comes to being the best for travelers.
The website Nerdwallet.com ranked the top 50 busiest airports across the country, analyzing data on delays and cancellations over the last three years in November and December. The site also used Yelp reviews for restaurants at each airport to factor in their equation.
Miami International Airport ranked fifth nationally with at least 11.1 percent of flights being delayed at least 30 minutes. The airport’s restaurants also received a 4.2 rating out of a possible five stars.
Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport place ninth, with 12.2 percent of flights being delayed at least 30 minutes and restaurants also getting a 4.2 rating.
Honolulu came in first, followed by Atlanta, Phoenix and Seattle-Tacoma. Tampa came in sixth place followed by Portland and New Orleans, with Boston rounding out the top 10.
