South Florida Streets Flooded From Incessant Rain

Stalled cars sat in flooded streets Saturday afternoon, forcing police to shut down roads and traffic to come to a standstill.

The National Weather Service declared a flood advisory for both southeastern Broward county and northeastern Miami-Dade county. The original advisory was to end at 1:30 p.m. but was extended twice, to 6:15 p.m. Meteorologists warned that some areas could see eight or more inches of rain.

NBC6 viewers sent in pictures showing flooded streets in Hollywood, Miramar and downtown Miami.

As multiple cars sat stranded in the middle of flooded roads, the National Weather Service warned people against driving in flooded areas.
