South Florida's Karina Iglesias on Life After “The Voice”

Karina Iglesias will perform Friday July 12th with fellow "Voice" contestant at Unity on the Bay.

Two months after being sent home from NBC's "The Voice," Karina Iglesias is ready for a comeback.

The 36-year-old South Florida native will perform Friday at Unity on the Bay in Miami for what she calls her "comeback concert."

"It's been crazy, but now the dust has settled," Iglesias said about being back home.

The singer said she has gotten more exposure and more travel opportunities after being on "The Voice."

"I can use the show to my advantage," she said. "It always adds more credibility to your career."

She is planning on booking some shows outside of South Florida in the future and plans to release an EP by August, but in the meantime, she is using her time at home to give vocal lessons to children for "La Voz Kids."

"Now a lot of parents want me to train their kids because they know me from the show," Iglesias said.

She said her own parents, who are both from Honduras, are proud of her rise to fame.

"They're over the moon," she said. "They've always been supportive."

Her family remained proud of her despite the coaches' decisions to keep Garret Gardner on the show instead of her in May. But Iglesias' experience strengthened her determination to never give up, and she encourages fellow singers to do the same.

"Trust in your talent. It will pay off," she said.

At Friday's concert, Iglesias will be joined by fellow "Voice" contestant Monique Abbadie, another South Florida native. They will perform contemporary hits by artists like Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry and Michael Jackson, but the songs will have a jazz sensibility.

Iglesias will also be debuting a new original song in Spanish called "Broken Conversations."
