South Floridians Flock to Apple Stores for New iPhones

Customers at Lincoln Road store in Miami Beach started lining up Thursday morning.

Customers crowded Apple stores throughout South Florida early Friday to be among the first to get their hands on the latest iPhone.

Some shoppers began lining up Thursday morning at the store on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach in anticipation of the release of the 4c and 5s iPhones, which go on sale beginning at 8 a.m. local time Friday.

Lloyd Pearson, who was the first person in line, said he showed up around 4 a.m. Thursday.

"It's gonna be a very, very restricted supply, we expect it to be worse than last year," he said.

The phone is also available for sale on Apple's online store starting at 12:01 PDT.

"The iPhone has been quite an item, I'm pretty excited to see it, exactly what kind of features that these phones have to offer," said A.C. Kelly, who was seventh in line at the Lincoln Road store.

The new phones were launched at an Apple event at its main campus in Cupertino, Calif., on Sept. 10.

The iPhone 5c comes in a host of colors – blue, green, pink, yellow and white – and will be available for a retail price of $99 for the 16 GB model and $199 for the 32 GB model.

The all-new iPhone 5s, Apple's latest update to its line of popular smartphones, comes in gold, silver or space gray, retailing for about $199 for the 16 GB model, $299 for the 32 GB model and $399 for the 64 GB model.

Apple cases for the phone will be available in beige, black, blue, brown, yellow and red for $39 through Apple online store.

All of the new smartphones feature Apple's latest mobile operating system, iOS 7, which is the company's most significant revamp since it launched the original iPhone.
