Say it ain't so, Southwest.
The airline with no baggage fees and the multi-colored planes is cutting down its flights out of Fort Lauderdale because not enough people are flying these days.
Hollywood Fort Lauderdale International airport will lose eight flights as part of a 37 departure flight cancellation from all Florida airports starting this fall. In total, Southwest is dropping 116 flights nationwide as part of a seasonal approach to cutting costs.
Some of the routes will return in the winter or summer of 2011, officials said on the Southwest Airlines blog.
Expect to get that "Ding!" a lot less frequently in a few months.
