Star University of Florida Football Player Loucheiz Purifoy's Arrest Warrant Quashed

Loucheiz Purifoy was allegedly caught by the Alachua County Sheriff's Office in March with marijuana and the synthetic drug, bath salts.

The Gainesville Police Department has launched an internal investigation into the quashing of an arrest warrant for a former University of Florida football star and current NFL draft prospect.

The Gainesville Sun reports that Loucheiz Purifoy was allegedly caught by the Alachua County Sheriff's Office in March with marijuana and the synthetic drug, bath salts. The newspaper reported that Purifoy was not arrested because he had agreed to cooperate as drug taskforce informant. An arrest warrant was issued after investigators said Purifoy did not fulfill his agreement to act as an informant. But that warrant was cancelled on Wednesday.

The Alachua County Sheriff requested the investigation of the Gainesville Police Department, saying the move to quash the warrant was "highly unusual."
