Student Stabbed in Boy's Bathroom at School in Palm Beach County

A student at a high school in Palm Beach County was taken to the hospital after another student stabbed him in the boy's bathroom Wednesday.

NBC affiliate WPTV in West Palm Beach reports that the incident occurred in the bathroom at Royal Palm Beach High School at 8:47 a.m. while students were changing classes. They say one student stabbed the other with a pocketknife.

The injured student was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in stable condition.

The suspect, who is also a student, was taken into custody. He's expected to face charges of attempted murder and bringing a weapon on school property.

It is not known what prompted the stabbing. The students' identities have not been released.

The Palm Beach School district said on Twitter that the school was briefly placed on "code yellow" due to what they called an "isolated incident."

As of 10:40 a.m., the school was back on regular bell schedule with no missed instructional time.

The stabbing is the second at Royal Palm this school year and the third in 21 months.

"Hopefully they'll do something about it or I'm going to take my other child out of here," parent Amber Givens said.
