Surveillance Video, 911 Audio Released in Pizzeria Crash

The crash happened Saturday at La Pizzeria Di Lemoni at 4600 NE 2nd Avenue.

On Monday, police released surveillance video and 911 audio from a Saturday car crash outside a Miami pizzeria.

The crash happened at La Pizzeria Di Lemoni at 4600 NE 2nd Avenue. According to Miami Fire Rescue, 71-year-old Belony Alterma lost control of his 2003 Toyota Camry, hitting a pole before running onto the sidewalk and slamming into diners eating outside.

The surveillance video shows the destruction that left a total of seven diners injured. Frantic witnesses can be heard on the 911 calls asking for immediate help.

"I need medics out here now," says one witness, who tells dispatchers there are several injuries.

Two victims were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center as trauma alerts, while other victims were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital and JMH's emergency room. Conditions for those injured in the accident have not been released.

Alterma said he doesn't remember much about what happened in the accident, but he says he is sorry for what transpired. Among the injured were Alterma's wife and niece inside the Camry. Alterma stayed on the scene after the accident.

For Lemoni's owner, Maria Pelati, the wreck has been devastating.

"I can't sleep for two days, because there are kids around and a pregnant woman," she said.

Pelati has removed the outside dining tables until the area has been deemed safe.
