Surveillance Video Captures Man Wanted for Thefts

Coral Gables Police are looking for a man wanted on a string of theft charges.

Investigators said he hit the Nordstrom at the Village of Merrick Park Shops, not once but twice.

Police said he is seen on surveillance video July 15, walking around the store, stuffing merchandise worth an estimated $940 into a shopping bag.

Police said Nordstrom store security spotted the thief and went after him down the road toward the Metrorail. Police said the suspect then abandoned the stolen items, and his shoes.

The evidence left behind was picked up by the cops, who rushed over and started looking for him in broad daylight.

The search for the suspect caused chaos on that day. Miami-Dade Transit cut power to the Metrorail stops at Douglas Road and University for several hours, as police set up a perimeter locking the area down. Still, officers didn't catch the suspect.

Detectives said they found out this isn't the first time the suspect has stolen from this Nordstrom.

Security cameras caught him wearing different clothes but doing the same kind of thing on July 9. That's the week before the latest crime.

Now detectives are hoping to arrest the suspect for both incidents.
