Surveillance Video Shows Brazen Armed Robbery in Miami

Miami Police are investigating a frightening armed robbery that took place at a gas station in May.

It happened just after 4 p.m. on May 1 at the Marathon gas station at 3501 Northwest 22nd Avenue.

According to detectives, the armed robber approached the store clerk and demanded money from the cash register while yelling and wielding a shotgun.

"He walked in and started yelling to the clerk, demanding the money while holding the shotgun and pointing it at the victims and he was demanding they face down and look away from his face," said Kenia Fallat with Miami Police.

The clerk complied with the gunman and gave him all the money. Police said the suspect grabbed the money, stormed out of the store and jumped into the passenger side of an awaiting getaway car, possibly a white Ford Escort or Toyota that was driven by his accomplice.

At this time, there is no description of the getaway driver.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, 5'8" and approximately 170 pounds with hazel eyes and light brown hair. He was last seen wearing a gray sweater with black lines in the arms, gray gym pants with black pants underneath, green shirt partially covering his face and a black baseball cap.

Police said one of the victims in the store was carrying a gun, but chose not to take it out.

"He was thinking clearly and didn't take his gun out because perhaps things could've turned worse had he taken out that gun," Fallat said.

An employee at the store told NBC 6 the female clerk who was threatened by the gunman quit her job because she was so afraid.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the Miami Police Department's Robbery Unit at (305) 603-6370.
