Survey Worker Struck, Killed by Vehicle on I-95: FHP

A survey worker was struck and killed by a vehicle along I-95 northbound Friday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. near Atlantic Boulevard in Pompano Beach.

FHP said the worker, who was wearing a reflective traffic vest, was standing within the white-striped area between the northbound lanes of I-95 and the entrance ramp onto I-95 from Atlantic.

As the driver was approaching slower traffic, FHP said he entered the painted area to pass and struck the worker.

59-year-old Enrique Diaz of Culter Bay was transported to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver stayed at the scene. It's unclear whether he'll face charges.
