Suspect Fatally Shot by U.S. Marshals Was Unarmed: Report

A new report finds a man shot and killed by U.S. Marshals last year was unarmed at the time, but was charging at officers.

The report out Friday from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement says officers believed their lives were in danger when they shot and killed 24-year-old Corey Levert Tanner in August in Espanola, north of Daytona Beach.

Tanner was being sought in connection with a murder. FDLE's report says he came charging out of a door with his arm raised and carrying a black object.

They now say that object was a bottle of cologne. He was shot five times.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that prosecutors have said officers were justified in the shooting.
