Suspect Sought in Armed Home Invasion in North Lauderdale

BSO releases sketch of suspect who put gun to woman's head

Authorities are searching for a man behind an armed home invasion in North Lauderdale last week.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. on December 7 at the home on Avon Lane, when a woman heard a man knocking on her door repeatedly, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.

The woman told him he had the wrong home but when he kept knocking, she opened the door and he put a gun to her head, officials said. The man forced her into her bedroom and made her lay on the ground while he searched for valuables. After several moments, the suspect fled with some of her belongings.

"Our victim was home alone when this happened so you can imagine how terrifying and how absolutely in fear for her life she was when this was going on," BSO spokesperson Gina Carter said.

Authorities on Tuesday released a sketch of the suspect, who is described as a tall male with bumps on his face, with a dark complexion and a heavy Jamaican accent.

A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
