Suspected Jacksonville School Bus Shooter Arrested in Georgia

Authorities say a teenager suspected of shooting two girls on a school bus in Jacksonville last week has been arrested in Georgia.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office reports that the 16-year-old boy was suffering from an accidental gunshot wound to the thigh when deputies arrested him Thursday near Hinesville, Georgia. The area is about 40 miles southwest of Savannah.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reports that the suspect and two other teenagers got into an argument last week with two teens who were on the bus. The argument was over another person who died previously. As the bus pulled away, at least three shots were fired, hitting two 16-year-old girls who weren't involved in the argument. Their injuries were not life-threatening.

The Florida Times-Union reports that the teen suspect faces two counts of attempted murder and one count of throwing a deadly missile.
