Suspected Shooter, Accomplice in Homebuyer Slaying Arrested: BSO

A man accused of killing a potential homebuyer in Fort Lauderdale and his accomplice were behind bars Thursday, authorities said.

Vincent Reniard Stanley, 51, is facing a first-degree murder charge in the shooting death of 51-year-old Kenol Jean, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.

Stanley, of Lauderhill, was being held without bond Thursday. It was unknown if he has an attorney. His alleged accomplice, 48-year-old Israel Brown, was charged with accessory after the fact and was being held on $15,000 bond, records showed.

According to the BSO, Jean, his wife and a realtor were looking at a home for sale in the 2700 block of Northwest 6th Court on Feb. 26 when Stanley went into the home carrying a gun.

"He went in to rob the victim of his gold chain, the victim rushed him and he fired a shot," BSO spokeswoman Dani Moschella said.

Jean was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center where he later died.

Authorities say Stanley was given a ride to and from the house by Brown in a Pontiac Grand AM. Detectives were able to find the vehicle Brown used thanks to surveillance video.

"Detectives learned that not only was the shooter talking to the driver of the Grand AM before the crime, but he also got into the vehicle after the crime so he was in fact an accomplice," Moschella said.

The same car had been at the house the day before the shooting as another realtor was about to show the house to another couple. An unidentified person had gone in the house and was waiting for the agent but the agent felt uncomfortable and waited outside until the person walked out.

Brown was arrested on Monday and Stanley was arrested on Wednesday. Officials said Brown led them to Stanley.
