Suspected Shoplifter Trashed Store During Confrontation

A woman trashed a Shell gas station in Jacksonville after being confronted by an employee for shoplifting.

The suspect was seen on surveillance video yanking items off of the store shelves and hurling them to the floor.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the woman stuffed several candy bars totaling $11 in her pockets. The store clerk confronted the woman but she refused to return the stolen items.

When the suspect tried to walk out of the store, the employee locked the front door.

That's when the suspected shoplifter began damaging products inside the store and smashing glass bottles on the floor. The employee was seen trying to stop the woman from clearing the shelves.

After several minutes of the woman's wild antic, the store clerk unlocked the door allowing the woman to walk out. The suspect remains on the run.
