Suspects Robbed People Gathered for Prayer Meeting, Gift Giving at Northwest 42nd Street Home

Miami-Dade Police are searching for at least four men who robbed several people during a prayer meeting at a home.

Noemi Gomez Luna said the armed thieves came in through the front door of her home on the 2600 block of Northwest 42nd Street at about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday.

"I just thought it wasn't real. I thought it was a joke. I thought they were going to run out or something," she said.

Luna said two of the men stormed through her house, where they found her niece and stole her cell phone, and another two kept watch over about a dozen people who gathered on the back patio to exchange Christmas presents.

One of the armed men snatched up an innocent child.

"He was probably, like, 1-year-old and they just grabbed him," said Luna, who believes the man grabbed the toddler as a threat.

Once the holdup was over, the men had stolen at least one present and several purses.

The victims said the thieves appeared to be young men. They reportedly took off on bikes down Northwest 42nd Street.

Miami-Dade Police urge anyone with information on the case to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
