Tropical Storm Maria continued to move slowly through the Atlantic Monday and was expected to begin to turn toward the north and away from the U.S. coast, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

As of the latest NHC update at  5 p.m., Maria had maximum sustained winds of 50 mph as it moved west at 2 mph about 360 miles east southeast of the southeastern Bahamas.

Maria isn't expected to strengthen in the next 48 hours, when it's expected to pass east of the Bahamas.

There were no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
