TSA Screener Arrested for Bringing Gun to Miami International Airport

Gun spotted in screener's bag at employee checkpoint: Report

A TSA screener was arrested Tuesday after police say he tried to bring a gun through an employee checkpoint at Miami International Airport.

Eduardo Valdes, 35, is facing a charge of carrying a concealed firearm, according to a Miami-Dade Police report.

The report said Valdes was going through an X-ray machine at the airport when a screener at the checkpoint spotted the gun in his bag.

When questioned, Valdes said he "was aware that it was illegal to bring the firearm into the airport and stated that he forgot," the report said.

Valdes told officers that the gun wasn't registered and he didn't have a concealed firearms permit.

Valdes was arrested and taken to jail. It was unknown whether he has an attorney.
