Tampa Police Rescue a Dog Shot, Tied to Railroad Tracks

A dog is expected to survive after being found shot and tied to the railroad tracks in Tampa.

Tampa police found the dog after responding to reports of shots fired in the Sulphur Springs neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

The mixed-breed dog was taken to the Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Center where she was in stable condition late Wednesday.

Police say they stopped an oncoming train and rescued the dog. She was shot twice in the neck and once in the right shoulder.

Authorities say the dog will have to have her right front leg amputated.
