Teen Accused of Putting Hand Sanitizer in Teacher's Drink

The 15-year-old was charged with poisoning his teacher.

A teenager is accused of putting germ-X hand sanitizer in his teacher's Diet Coke.

The 15-year-old was arrested on Tuesday and charged with poisoning his teacher's drink, which is a first-degree felony.

Walton County Superintendent of Schools Carlene Anderson told the Northwest Florida Daily News the teacher is fine. However, she became physically ill and went to the hospital after drinking the tainted Diet Coke.

Anderson says school officials told her the boy is a "prankster" who didn't intend for the teacher to get sick.

In addition to his arrest, the teen has been suspended from school and faces an expulsion hearing.
