Teen Arrested for Killing Pregnant Ex

Police charge 17-year-old with two counts of murder in slaying

Miramar police have arrested a 17-year-old who they say shot and killed his 8 months pregnant former girlfriend and left her body in a grocery store parking lot.

Edward Jermaine Babbs (pictured above) was arrested yesterday and charged with two counts of first degree murder in the slaying of Stephanie Rabsatt and her unborn baby. Babbs told police he was the father of the baby, which was due in the next month.

Rabsatt, 17, was found in a parked car outside the Winn-Dixie at 6301 SW 41st St. early Friday evening, dead from gunshot wounds.

Relatives of Rabsatt said they suspected Babbs from the beginning.

"I was shocked that he would do something like this, but I already had it in my heart that he did it," said Micey Thomas, Rabsatt's sister. "I want him to be punished, I want something to happen."

Babbs is being held at a juvenile detention center in Broward.

"We hurt so much, he hurt us so much," said relative Bernice Graham, who added that the baby was going to be named Jayden.

Family said Rabsatt's funeral is planned for Saturday.
