Teen Arrested for Stealing Car With Baby Inside in Pompano Beach: BSO

A teen has been arrested for his role in the theft of a car at a Pompano Beach 7-Eleven while a 1-year-old baby was inside, officials said.

The 15-year-old boy is facing multiple charges including grand theft, larceny, burglary of a conveyance and abuse of a child without bodily harm, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said Wednesday.

The baby was in a car seat when the Toyota Camry was stolen from the gas station at 2391 N. Dixie Highway on July 25. Security cameras showed the teen walk up to the victim's car, get in and drive off, authorities said.

Authorities began a search using K-9s and helicopters and the car was found abandoned about 20 minutes later in the 1500 block of Northwest 2nd Avenue. The child was still in his car seat, unharmed.

The teen was working as part of a four-man team and more arrests are expected, officials said.
