Teen Arrested in Couple's Carjacking Death

Miami Gardens Police confirm they have a suspect in custody in connection with the death of Julian Soler and Kennia Duran

Authorities have arrested a teen they claim was involved in the murder of a young couple at a Miami Gardens gas station last week.

Eric Ellington, 16, is expected to be charged with attempted carjacking and second-degree murder after he allegedly shot and killed Julian Soler on July 25, Miami Gardens Police said.

Soler and his girlfriend, Kennia Duran, were gunned down outside the Mobile Mart.

Ellington was arrested at his home in Hollywood on Tuesday and appeared in juvenile court Wednesday. Prosecutors told a judge they plan to charge him an adult at an arraignment scheduled for Aug. 8.

Surveillance video at the gas station captured the attack. A Nissan Pathfinder is seen pulling up to the couple as they were about to pull off.

Ellington jumped out of the SUV and pulled Soler out of his car and shot him, police said.

Duran was also shot and killed by anothe passenger in the SUV.

Police said they believe the suspects were after Soler's car although the Mustang wasn't taken.

Authorities also said Wednesday that more arrests might be coming. They think there were at least two other suspects in the vehicle at the time of the ambush.
