Tampa Teen Charged with Murdering Man During Craigslist Meetup To Sell Dirt Bike

A father trying to sell his dirt bike on Craigslist in Tampa was gunned down Tuesday night by two people he thought were potential buyers, police said. One of the teen suspects has been caught, the second remains on the run.

James Beck’s son posted an ad on Craigslist to sell the bike. After getting an inquiry from a potential buyer, he arranged to meet with the person.

The 44-year-old father and his son drove to the meet-up with the dirt bike in his truck bed. When they met the two young men police said it soon became clear the men intended to rob Beck and his son.

Tampa detectives say one of the suspects shot Beck and the dangerous duo took off with the dirt bike. Beck later died of his injuries.

Later that evening, police were able to locate the one of the alleged gunmen, 16-year-old Ramontrae Williams. He was charged with first-degree felony murder and robbery.
