Woman Facing DUI Charges After Hitting Jogger

18-year-old high schooler hit by car Saturday night in Coconut Grove

An 18-year-old high school athlete was seriously injured when he was struck by a car while jogging in Coconut Grove Saturday night.

The teen, Brian Beaubrun, was in the area of Virginia St. and West Trade Ave. when he was hit by a Jeep driven by 32-year-old Corina Gonzalez just before midnight, according to a police report.

According to the report, Gonzalez veered off the road and hit a parked car before striking Beaubrun, throwing him up in the air.

When police arrived they say Gonzalez "exhibited an odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and appeared to be impaired," according to the report.

According to the report, Gonzalez failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. She reportedly refused to take a breath test.

Beaubrun was transported to Ryder Trauma Center in very serious condition.

Gonzalez was booked on DUI charges and police said they are awaiting toxicology results.
