Teen Murder Plot Fails

Mother survives son's murder attempt

The boys planned the murder for two weeks through text messages; a 15-year-old persuading a 13-year-old to help him kill his mother, according to Miami Beach police.

But when it came down to do the deed, the 15-year-old chickened out, proving unable to kill his mother with a box cutter.

And the 13-year-old was left slashing the woman's face and neck before the knife broke on her collarbone.

The younger boy fled when he realized his initiation to get into the “Sons of Anarchy” club – whose only member was apparently the 15-year-old – had self-destructed before his eyes.

Both boys were eventually arrested.

The incident took place Friday in the 5700 block of Alton Road where the 15-year-old lived with the woman’s ex-husband. She lives in Coral Gables.

Police say both boys have confessed to the crime.

The 15-year-old, who attends Christopher Columbus High School, was charged conspiracy, solicitation to commit murder and tampering with evidence.

The 13-year-old, who attends Nautilus Middle School, was charged with conspiracy, attempted first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

The 51-year-old woman was treated at the scene, her brush with death not even warranting a hospital visit.
