A male student from Cypress Bay High in Weston who took photos of girls using the restroom is now back in the classroom, reports the Sun-Sentinel.
The senior, who isn’t named by police, received a 10-day suspension.
Broward Sheriff's officials said Tuesday the kid will face misdemeanor video voyeurism charges for what he claims were efforts to make bathroom stalls a cleaner, safer place for his female counterparts. The teen is also the step son of a BSO detention deputy.
While the excuse didn’t fly with police, the boy got off the hook for more serious charges because the potentially explicit pics turned out to be really crappy.
His punishment? He can’t bring a cell phone or any other electronic device into school and is undergoing counseling. Broward School District spokeswoman Marsy Smith says that the student is still being considered for expulsion.
The teen might be lucky his camera phone didn’t have more mega-pixels.
“The photos were taken from a distance showing the female occupants sitting, squatting and standing on a toilet with no visible sightings of female nude private parts", the police report stated.
On Aug. 27, the male student snuck into the girl’s bathroom and set up photo shop in a unoccupied stall. When he heard a girl go into the next stall, he hid a camera phone in his sleeve and proceeded to click away.
We can’t imagine the female students are thrilled to have the Peeping Tom back in class, but we can’t deny a kid his education, even if he is a pervert.
