Miami-Dade Police Arrest Teen in Hit-and-Run Accident

Miami-Dade Police have taken a 17-year-old driver into custody for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run accident involving a 14-year-old.

Police said the accident happened at Northeast 167th Street and Northeast 14th Avenue Monday afternoon. Police said a car was stopped at the intersection to let pedestrians cross the street.

The car behind the stopped car attempted to go around the first car and hit 14-year-old Brian Brito as he crossed the street, police said.

Footage showed the green Honda Accord's window smashed in and bloody clothing at the scene.

Witnesses provided the license tag information to Miami-Dade Police. Officers went to the 17-year-old's residence, but he was not at home.

He was taken into custody later Monday evening and police said charges are pending.

Brito and the suspect both attend North Miami Beach Senior High.
