A male demanded money from a Hialeah CVS Pharmacy cashier while holding what appeared to be a grenade, authorities said Friday.

The incident occurred Wednesday just after noon at 1571 West 49th St. Hialeah Police said the unidentified male, who was between the ages of 16 and 20, placed a beverage on a cashier’s counter and then said he needed to get his money.

Two minutes later, the thief returned to the counter with what police believe was a grenade. He demanded money and fled the store with cash in his hand.
