Thieves Break Into Southwest Miami-Dade Electronic Store Twice in One Night

A mother lode of merchandise was stolen from an electronic store in Southwest Miami-Dade Saturday. The shelves at Electronic Storm were emptied after two separate groups of thieves went on a crime spree, getting away with $30,000 worth of merchandise, the store owner said.

Owner Roberto Camba said around 1 a.m., three burglars used a screwdriver to pry open the bottom of the back door of the store located along Quail Roost Drive. Surveillance video of the break-in shows the thieves making off with boxes of expensive electronics including iPhones, stereo systems, musical equipment and speakers. The bandits fled in a white getaway van, video shows.

Camba said the motion sensor was not triggered during the break-in and the thieves somehow ripped out the alarm system.

“They take off the motion sensor, panel radio everything,” said Camba. “And, the alarm didn't work so that gave them a chance to steal for the store for like four hours."

The owner was able to track down one of the vans he believes was involved in the crime, but it was abandoned.

To add salt to injury, a second group of thieves took advantage of the broken door at the business and took off with the scraps that were left behind by the initial burglars.

"We don't have no insurance, so basically we try to start step-by-step," said Camba.

The future of the family owned store is now up in the air as Camba is not sure if he's going to be forced to close. He wants people to be on the lookout for the two groups of thieves who are still at large.

Camba is also working with ADT alarm system to determine if the company can help him in the situation. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
