Brazen thieves stole equipment from Miami Police boats sometime over the weekend.

Marine Patrol Units discovered around 10 a.m. Sunday that 3 of their "Contender" vessels had been burglarized at the Miami Yacht Club. Lower units from each vessel had been stolen, totaling $18,000 in damages.

The "Contender" vessels were last seen by the Marine Patrol Units around 4 p.m. Friday, when a mechanic had been working on them. The mechanic verified that he had left the vessels with the lower units intact.

Police are reviewing any available surveillance video as the investigation continues.
