“This Is Crazy,” Mini Market Employee Says of Opa-locka ATM Heist

The front door of the Macarox Mini Market was ripped off in the Thursday morning incident

Authorities are investigating another ATM heist, this time in Opa-locka.

Thieves ripped off the front door of the Macorix Mini Market at 701 Opa-locka Blvd. Thursday morning and stole the ATM, according to store owners.

The suspects also took cigarettes and some money from the cash register, they said.

"This is crazy," store employee Lillian Rivera said. "I seen all the glass shattered on the floor. Thank God nobody was hurt."

This isn't the first ATM heist this year. Authorities are investigating a string of smash and grabs in Miami-Dade County. Just last week, surveillance cameras caught thieves using their vehicle to yank off the front door of a store in Midtown, in order to get to the ATM.

Police are asking anyone with information on these ATM burglaries to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
