Protesting for the right for women to go topless on South Beach is almost like demanding the right to gamble in Vegas.
Nobody is actually cracking down on it, so why bother?
Nevertheless, a group of topless women, joined by bra-wearing men, marched down Lincoln Road Sunday demanding that laws be changed to give women the same rights as men in taking their shirts off in public.
The protest, part of a nationally orchestrated series of protests around the country, turned out to be a flop.
Only three women removed their tops. And they never removed the little plastic suction cups off their nipples. Yet the event has been promoted on the internet for weeks now.
For a more authentic and varied look at topless women, one only had a to walk a few blocks east and stroll along the beach. And that is an everyday occurrence.
Perhaps it drew more participants at the other protests held across the United States, including New York, Venice Beach, Chicago, Portland, Maui and Columbus, Ohio.
