Car Recovered in Fatal Brickell Hit-and-Run Crash: Miami Police

Miami Police said they have recovered the 2010 Mazda involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed Ana Mares, 52, in Brickell on March 22. Miami Police spokesman Sgt. Freddie Cruz said the car was turned over through the owner's attorney. Police said they are still investigating who was behind the wheel on the night of the crash. The victim's sister, Adriana Mares, spoke about the case.

Fatal Hit-and-Run Suspect To Be Released

Sandor Guillen, 38, was back in court Monday after he was taken into custody for testing positive for amphetamines. His attorney Bruce Lehr presented documentation that he was approved to take the medication, and Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Ellen Sue Venzer said she would allow Guillen to post bond and leave jail Tuesday as long as he meets drug testing requirements, though he will remain under house arrest. Camacho family spokesman Bruce Cease also spoke about the case.

Florda Highway Patrol is investigating a hit and run that killed a tow truck driver early Saturday morning in Miami.

The tow truck driver was assisting a disabled car on southbound State Road 874 by Killian Parkway at about 3 a.m. when another car veered into the emergency lane, struck the tow truck driver and drove away, said Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Joe Sanchez.

The tow truck driver died, who was not immediately identified, died on the scene, Sanchez said.

"This is a perfect example of the 'Move Over' law," Sanchez said. "These are individuals that are out here providing assitance, and we ask motorists to respect the law, which is to move over a lane and reduce their speed."

Officials are looking for an older model, burgundy BMW with damage to the front right side. Sanchez said the outside rear view mirror should be missing and the right side passenger window should be shattered.
