The Calle Ocho Festival, considered the biggest block party in America, took over Little Havana Sunday. John Luis, Elizabeth Nassi and Homer Yzaguirre spoke about what the event means to them.

Here's a look at which streets will be closed so you know which areas to avoid:

    • Beginning on Saturday at 11:30 p.m., eastbound traffic on Southwest 8th Street from 27th Avenue to 7th Avenue will be closed. Traffic traveling eastbound on 8th Street will be detoured north or southbound on 27th Avenue.
    • Miami- Dade Transit buses which normally travel along 8th Street will be detoured. Please check with Miami-Dade Transit Agency for further information.
    • 7th Street will remain open westbound until 8th Ave, then detoured north.
    • Residents that live in the area will be allowed access on a “local traffic only” basis to 7th Street on the north side or on the south side of 9th Street.

Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes. City of Miami Police officers will be in the area to provide assistance.

Southwest 8th Street will reopen for regular traffic by 5 a.m. Monday.
