Triple Shooting Leaves Two Dead in Broward County

A triple shooting near a nightclub in Broward County early Wednesday morning has left two people dead and one other in the hospital.

BSO deputies responded to the scene off West Broward Boulevard and Northwest 28th Avenue just outside Fort Lauderdale around 4 a.m. Witnesses say one man was dead at the scene in a parking lot, which was later confirmed by officials.

Family members identified the victim as 23-year-old Wendell Soliphar, who moved to South Florida nearly a year ago from the Bahamas and leaves behind a daughter - however, BSO has not confirmed that information.

Soliphar was leaving the club and was at the wrong place at the wrong time, family members said.

"If you got beef with somebody just let it go, it's not worth it, it's not. Life is too short, you gotta enjoy life," said Junior Demelies, Soliphar's cousin.

Louis Simon, 30, was also killed in the incident, officials said.

A third victim, whose name police are withholding, suffered injuries that were not life threatening, police said.

Detectives are familiar with crimes around the BAM nightclub, which is located in the 2800 block of West Broward Boulevard. In November 2015, NBC 6 covered the death of 27-year-old Joshua Rogers.

Rogers also got shot during the overnight hours. In the weeks that followed, police made four arrests.

Most recently, people who live in the area say more shootings have happened in the last few weeks, notably at the same nightclub.
