Tropical Storm Debby formed in the central Gulf of Mexico Saturday afternoon, according to the National Hurricane Center.
As of 5 p.m. Sunday, Debby had maximum sustained winds of 60 mph and was moving northeast at six mph.
The storm is located 205 miles east-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River and about 100 miles south-southwest of Apalachicola, Fla.
A tropical storm watch has been watch has been extended southward along the west coast of Florida to Englewood.

Debby is expected to cause five to 10 inches of rain over the Florida Panhandle, northern and central Florida, with isolated areas receiving a possible 10 to 15 inches.
South Florida is expected to receive two to four inches of rain with isolated amounts of six inches possible.
No significant motion is expected in the next couple of days.
