Hurricane Marty Drifts Toward Mexico's Pacific Coast

Hurricane Marty is drifting toward Mexico's coast in the Pacific and a hurricane warning has been issued for part of the coast.

Marty is centered about 145 miles (233 kilometers) west of Acapulco. A hurricane warning is in effect from Tecpan de Galeana to Lazaro Cardenas. Tropical storm warnings and watches are also in effect.

Forecasters say Marty is moving northeast and has maximum sustained winds of 80 mph (129 kph). On the current forecast track, the center of Marty is expected to pass just offshore on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meanwhile in the Atlantic, a tropical depression has maximum sustained winds near 35 mph (55 kph). The depression is centered about 465 miles (748 kilometers) southwest of Bermuda. It could become a tropical storm on Tuesday.
