Tropical Storm Ophelia Strengthens

Tropical Storm Ophelia as of 5 a.m. Friday.

Tropical Storm Ophelia strengthened Friday as it moved across the Atlantic, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

As of 5 p.m., Ophelia had maximum sustained winds near 60 mph as it moved west-northwest at 15 mph about 540 miles east of the Leeward Islands.

Ophelia was expected to continue moving west-nothwest Friday and Saturday, and it could possibly turn toward the northwest on Sunday

There were no watches or warnings in effect.
