A 20-year-old man was arrested for murder after deputies say he nearly decapitated a woman he was planning to pay for oral sex.
Paul Charles Farina, of Lake Park, was arrested Sunday and faces a second-degree murder charge, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit. He remains in jail without bond.
Deputies arrived at Farina’s apartment after a visitor to the complex reported seeing Farina standing over a dead woman and dragging her by her feet, the report said.
Farina, who was found covered in blood, told deputies, “Oh my God! Oh my God! I need help! I can’t believe this! This guy Roger did this,” according to the affidavit.
During questioning, Farina continued to tell authorities about the incident. He said an unknown man entered his apartment and attacked the woman as he fled, but later admitted he was lying, deputies reported.
Instead, he said, the incident began after he picked the woman up on the street and brought her to his apartment to pay her for oral sex. After smoking marijuana together and talking about drugs, the woman suggested he purchase some prescription medication, the affidavit read.
An argument ensued when the woman thought Farina had more cash. She picked up a knife from the table and pointed it at him, and Farina sustained a cut to his hand while trying to grab it from her, the report said.
Then, after Farina was able to get a knife from the kitchen, he stabbed the woman’s neck. He continued to cut her neck from right to left when she tried to hurt him.
The laceration to her neck “almost caused a full detachment to her head," the affidavit said.
Farina, who told authorities he had consumed alcohol and cocaine, had a laceration to his hand. Two knives and cleaning agents were found near the body, deputies said.
The man who called 911 said he heard the woman say, “Why are you doing this? I have three kids!” during the struggle.
