2 Sought in Coral Gables Gas Station Snatching: Police

Coral Gables police are looking for a pair of men who snatched a person's wallet from right out of their pocket last Wednesday.

It happened just before 10:00 p.m. at a Shell gas station window located at 1429 South Dixie Highway in Coral Gables.

Police say the victim was standing in front of the gas station window when two men pulled up to the station. One man got out of the passenger side of the vehicle, walked up behind the victim and snatched his wallet right out of his back pocket.

"I felt something missing from my pocket and I turned around and saw a guy running and I put two and two together," the victim told NBC 6. "I was angry and I was running, that's why I was running after his car."

The thief ran off with the victim chasing right behind him. The getaway driver tried taking off with the thief still on the hood of the car.

"This guy doesn't care about his life, he could've gotten hurt too," the victim said.

The car, described as a 1991-1995 green Mazda 929 with severe paint damage, was last seen traveling southbound on Madruga Court.

Police are looking for two black men, both of medium build, age 20-30. One of the men has dreadlocks and was last seen wearing a white and black shirt and long dark shorts. The other has short hair and was seen wearing a white t-shirt and dark pants.

Anyone with information on the identity of these men or the vehicle is asked to contact the Coral Gables Police Department at (305) 442-1600 or Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
