The Miami Gardens Police Department has launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly killed his wife and 10-year-old daughter with a machete.
The suspect, 57-year-old Noel Chambers, also injured his adult daughter during a domestic violence incident, according to police.
Police responded to an assault report on the 600 block of Northwest 177th Street at about 11 p.m. Saturday.
"Upon arrival our officers found 2 female victims deceased on scene," MGPD said in a statement. "A third victim was found injured, and was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening wounds. The incident appears to be domestic related."
MGPD identified the suspect as Chambers. The preliminary investigation shows that Chambers allegedly attacked his wife, Lorrice Harris, and his two daughters.
The 10-year-old daughter, identified as Shayla Chambers, was killed in the attack and the 29-year-old daughter was critically injured.
Family members and police held a news conference Monday to ask for the public's help to find Chambers.
"I'm still in shock," said Harris' daughter, Ashley Anderson. "It's something that I'm still in disbelief."
Anderson said Harris was killed on her birthday. She had asked Chambers for a divorce a week earlier, family members said.
"This is not a human, this is a monster, and we need to get this monster off the street," Anderson said.
Later in the day, police responded to an abandoned building in Miami Gardens after receiving a tip that Chambers could be there. Officers in tactical gear were seen outside the building and searched floor by floor. They later found the building to be empty.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho addressed reports that one of the victims was a juvenile.

"Hearing infuriating and devastating reports of the murder of a 10-year-old child during a domestic dispute," Carvalho wrote on Twitter. "This is so wholly unnatural and inexcusable. I pray for this child’s soul and that peace is found after death, that this innocent child did not experience in life."
When police find him, Chambers will face two counts of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, officials said.
