University of Florida Online Program Struggles with Enrollment

Fewer than 10 percent of 3,118 high school students invited to sign up for a new online program after their applications were rejected for regular admission to the University of Florida have accepted the offer.

The Gainesville Sun reports 256 students signed up for the Pathway to Campus Enrollment program. School officials say the program guarantees students a spot at the University of Florida after they complete the minimum requirements: two semesters and at least 15 hours of online course work.

University of Florida provost Joe Glover says the program was rolled out very late because it was still being formulated.

Officials say invites were sent in February at the same time it sent acceptance letters to 14,000 of 31,000 high school students who applied for the fall semester.
